An awareness seminar on ‘SMOG’ was held in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, under the kind patronage of esteemed Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, in the auditorium of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.
Director PDMA (South Punjab), Mr. Hameed Ullah, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
The seminar’s main goals are to reduce smog and pollution in the environment and to raise awareness of environmentally friendly projects.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kamran Khalid Khawja, Principal FJMC Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Chairperson Department of Medicine/ Dean Nursing/ Director QEC Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir, Registrar Prof. Dr. Nadeem Kasuri, Prof. Dr. Shamila Ijaz Munir, Dr. Naghmana Latif, Prof. Dr. Mah Jabeen, Dr. Saman, Dr. Faiza Abrar and other faculty members attended the seminar. Third- and final-year medical students of FJMU and male nursing students from Govt. Teaching Hospital Shahdara were spectaculars of today’s events.
Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Principal FJMC, presented the introductory remarks. She expressed her gratitude to all of the attendees and special guests for attending the event.
The first keynote speaker of today’s event was the Chairperson of the Medicine Department, Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir. She spoke on ‘the AQI connection: understanding how air quality affects your health’ and showed an interesting video on the current status of SMOG in Lahore city.
Director PDMA South Punjab, Mr. Hameed Ullah, spoke on ‘SMOG introduction and how to mitigate’. He also introduced the government app ‘SANS’ and how to report on it online.
Finally, the principal FJMC Prof. Noreen Akmal presented souvenirs to the Speakers.
