An awareness seminar on anti-corruption and character building was organized in Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.
President College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Former Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Dr. Aamer Zaman Khan and Deputy Director NAB Lahore Mr. Muhammad Sajid graced the seminar as Guests of Honor.
Principal FJMC Prof. Dr. Noureen Akmal, Registrar FJMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, Deans Prof. Kamran Khalid khawaja , Prof. Muniza Qayyum, Prof. Zohra Khanum, Prof. Munazza Iqbal, Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana. , Heads of all departments, Faculty Members and a large number of students participated in the seminar.
The main objective of the seminar was awareness against corruption and its elimination.
In welcome address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal said that the cooperation of Fatima Jinnah Medical University with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has always been very good and we are very grateful to Deputy Director, NAB, Lahore Mr. Muhammad Sajid to grace the seminar. He said that many people select the evil deeds to fulfill their worldly desires, but they have no idea that they are spoiling their life hereafter. Nowadays, the difference between halal and haram is disappearing amongst people. In connection with this seminar, the take home message is to always earn halal and feed halal to your children.
He further informed that Fatima Jinnah Medical University has got the membership of “United Nations Academic Impact” among 1500 institutions in 152 countries, which works together with the United Nations to promote the Development of Global Health and the credit of this achievement goes to Department of Quality Enhancement Cell of Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
Deputy Director NAB Lahore Mr. Muhammad Sajid gave a comprehensive briefing on Definition and Types of Corruption, Evolution of Accountability Laws, Introduction of NAB, Operational Procedure of NAB and on various relevant topics. On this occasion, he said that it is a great honor for me that today I got the opportunity to address the doctors of the future. Fatima Jinnah Medical University’s services in Medical Education are Commendable.
He further appraised that we should study the Holy Quran along with its translation. We must also study the laws of the country. If blood is infected, then the whole body is affected by it, in the same way, as long as the money of corruption is included in our economy, our economy is also deteriorate.
He also told about the statistics for the year 2021 that the total recovery up to December 2021 was 839.175 billion rupees and the conviction rate in the year 2021 was more than 66%.
He further said that we are very grateful to Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal for inviting us to speak in front of the faculty and students.
Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan said that we are very grateful to NAB that they has performed very well since its inception. We hope that in the future Pakistan will definitely be a corruption free Pakistan with the efforts and efforts of NAB.
President College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan Prof. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi said that those students who do not attend their wards, also included in the category of Corruption. I have never promoted corruption. We must avoid financial as well as moral intellectual corruption. You guys should never use shortcuts in your life. He said that corruption is not only stealing money, but avoiding from one’s responsibilities also falls under the category of corruption. Those Nations who suffer from corruption, do not believe in accountability. He gave take home message to the students that always live honestly. He thanked Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Deputy Director NAB Mr. Muhammad Sajid and Faculty of Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal also awarded Shield to Deputy Director NAB Lahore Mr. Muhammad Sajid.
An Awareness Walk against Corruption was also organized.
