Commencement of 2nd Session of 11th CHPE Batch at Fatima Jinnah Medical University. FJMU to initiate MCPS and PhD in Medical Education

Under the dynamic Patronage of the esteemed Vice Chancellor, FJMU Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, and Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Director, Department of Medical Education, organized 2nd session of 11th Batch of the Certificate in Health Professions Education (CHPE) course commenced on June 12-14, 2025, at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.
The three-day session welcomed 23 participants representing a wide array of medical specialties from various institutions across Punjab.
The course’s inaugural session, led by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, explored curriculum fundamentals, including its perspective, historical evolution, components, types, and models. Participants actively engaged in teaching demonstrations and discussed various instructional strategies, creating a collaborative and enriching learning experience.
On the Second Day, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir led an engaging session on Problem-Based Learning and Curriculum Mapping, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and enthusiastic participation among attendees.
On the Third Day, Dr. Salma Nazar Khan, a distinguished medical educationist with a PhD in Medical Education, led an in-depth session covering key topics such as instructional design, lesson planning, small group teaching, clinical teaching, PBL facilitation, large group teaching, and reflective practice.
A significant highlight of the day was the visit of the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal (recipient of the Presidential Pride of Performance and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz).
During his address, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal announced that the Masters and PhD programs in Medical Education have been approved by the Syndicate, FJMU and expressed optimism that these programs will be launched soon, further enhancing the university’s academic offerings. He further reiterated the university’s commitment to advancing the field of medical education in Pakistan. He also emphasized the importance of motivation and attribution in the professional development of educators, encouraging participants to remain passionate, purpose-driven, and reflective in their teaching practices. He further commended Prof. Bilquis Shabbir on her professional accomplishments, acknowledged her valuable contributions, and expressed appreciation for her exemplary leadership as Director of Medical Education.
