This particular session focused on improving the clinical expertise of undergraduate and postgraduate students at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.
The event was meticulously coordinated by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson of the Department of Medicine/ Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell/ Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at FJMU/ SGRH, under the kind patronage of Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor of FJMU.
The conference featured presentations from two key departments: the Department of General Surgery-III, led by Prof. Dr. Waseem Hayat Khan, and the Department of Cardiology, led by Prof. Dr. Bilal Mohyuddin.
The first case on “Intraperitoneal Onlay Mesh Repair—Experience at SGRH,” with comprehensive insights provided by Ms. Tayyaba Naz (Final Year MBBS) and Dr. Ushna (PGR General Surgery), covered aspects such as history, physical examination, diagnosis, clinical management, treatment, complications, and prognosis. Prof. Dr. Waseem Hayat Khan, Head of General Surgery-III, gave his expert opinion and concluded the session with his valuable remarks.
The second case on “Pulmonary Embolism” was presented by the Department of Cardiology. Dr. Maheen Ahmad (House Officer) and Dr. Yamshe (Registrar of Cardiology) covered the aspects of history, physical examination, investigations, diagnosis, clinical management, and complications. Finally, Prof. Dr. Bilal Mohyuddin, Head of Cardiology, concluded the session with his valuable comments.
With active participation, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir emphasised the value of CPC as a setting for higher education and the critical role that prompt diagnosis and treatment play in patient care. She emphasised the value of spirituality in medical practice while summarising both situations in an intricate yet simple way, which was well appreciated by the faculty and students. Her efforts to organise these conferences, which significantly improve the clinical knowledge and skill development of participating students and professionals at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore, were much acknowledged.
