INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY SYMPOSIUM CELEBRATED AT FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
A symposium was held at Fatima Jinnah Medical University celebrating International Women’s Day by Department of Gynaecology and Quality Enhancement Cell as a series of character building/ mentorship sessions for students of FJMU.
Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Medical University Professor Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Prof. Shamsa Humayun, Prof. Aisha Malik, Prof. Zohra Khanum, Prof. Shamila Ejaz Munir, Prof. Rubina Sohail, Prof. Uzma Hussain, Prof. Farhat Naz, Prof. Kiran Khurshid and Dr. Amina Zia attended as panelists. Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson Medicine/Director QEC moderated the session.
Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, Principal Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Dean Basic Sciences Prof. Munazza Iqbal, Prof Naghmana, Prof Muhammad Aftab, Prof Huma Kiyani, Prof Alia, Prof Saima, Dr NoorulAin and other faculty members ,nurses and a large number of students attended this event.
The faculty and students of Fatima Jinnah Medical University celebrated the success of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal on becoming the new President of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
The Speakers said that this is another great achievement, after the Tamgha-E-Imtiaz and Presidential Pride of Performance Award for Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal. His Philanthropic services in the field of Medical Education are unparalleled and commendable. He also has the honor of being the first Regular Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore. A cake cutting ceremony was celebrated on the success of Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal as the President of College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan and prayers were also offered for the prosperity of the beloved country.
Prof Bilquis Shabbir introduced the concept of International Women’s Day, the theme of 2023: #EmbraceEquity, and the importance of knowing one’s rights and fulfilling duties at the same time.
Former Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Shamsa Humayun especially congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal on being elected as the President of CPSP. She said that today is historical day for Fatima Jinnah Medical University and great pride and honor for the university. She said that not often is seen such a humble, capable, and positive personality like Professor Khalid Masood Gondal.
Vc Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal appreciated holding such symposia for character building of students . He said that at present, the highest posting Medical Education in Pakistan is that of the i.e. President of the only postgraduate institute of the country, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. He said that it is a great honor for me to be the President of CPSP and it is also a blessing for me. All the credit for this success goes to the Fellows, Faculty and Students of Fatima Jinnah Medical University. While referring to the International Women’s Day, he said that the newly formed council of CPSP elected a female Professor from Baluchistan Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa as Vice President andProf Ambreen Afzal from Sindh as Councillor. He also announced that Chairperson Medicine/Director QEC, FJMU , Prof Bilquis Shabbir, has been elected as Faculty of Medicine and appreciated her efforts and contributions. He said that the rights given to women in Islam are exemplary. Women in every form, whether they are mothers, sisters, wives, or daughters, are blessings for us. This was followed by a very interesting panel discussion, the panelists sharing their experiences and ideas with the young generation and how they dealt with various adverse situations in life maintaining a balance between life and work.
An awareness walk was also organized at the end of the symposium.
