The Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) has launched a Mentorship Program for undergraduate students, and the first lecture was delivered by Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masud Gondal in an interactive session with the final year class. The event was attended by Principal Prof Noreen Akmal and Chairperson medicine / Director QEC Prof Bilquis Shabbir, who also introduced the Mentorship Program to the students.
During the session, Prof Gondal emphasized the importance of punctuality, and persistence in achieving academic excellence. He shared numerous anecdotes from his own experiences as a student and teacher, where medical ethics and altruism played pivotal roles in attaining desired targets. He also listened to the students’ concerns regarding non functioning ATM machine BLS workshops and extra curricular activities. VC FJMU promptly addressed them after the session.
The students expressed their appreciation for the session and thanked the Vice Chancellor and senior faculty for their warmth and encouragement.
In addition to Prof Gondal’s insights, Prof Noreen Akmal highlighted the importance of professionalism and a balanced life in female careers. Prof Bilquis Shabbir talked about the significance of self-directed, problem-based learning and introduced the mentorship program to the students.
