MENTORSHIP SESSION WITH VICE CHANCELLOR 2ND YEAR MBBS CLASS FJMU

A Mentorship Session with 2nd Year MBBS Class was organised at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore on 16th February, 2023.
The Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) has launched a Mentorship Program for undergraduate students, and the Mentorship Lecture was delivered by Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal in an interactive session with 2nd year MBBS class.
Ex-Pro-Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Shireen Khawar graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
The event was also attended by Principal Prof. Noreen Akmal, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem, Deans Prof. Munazza Iqbal, Prof. Muniza Qayyum, Chairperson Medicine/ Director QEC Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Heads of Departments Prof Alia Zahid, Prof. Saima Shehbaz, Dr Naghmana Latif and Dr Noor Ul Ain Waheed.
The basic purpose of this Interactive session was to eliminate Communication-Gap between teachers & students.
During the session, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal gave brief presentation on New and Recent Developments at Fatima Jinnah Medical University and way forward. He updated about inauguration of Fatima Jinnah institute of Mother & Child Health, Establishment of World’s Largest Prevention Centre “Punjab Thalassemia & Other Genetic Disorders Prevention & Research Institute (PTGD)”, Rehabilitation Activities of FJMU faculty in Flood Affected Areas in Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan, Construction of new Masjid, Orientation ceremony of new 1st year MBBS, Celebration of Kashmir Day, Visit of foreign delegate from Iran and Sri Lanka, Aid for Turkey Earthquake Victims and several other events organized at FJMU. He assured that the feedback of the students will be considered & solutions will be provided for each and every concern.
He also highlighted the importance of punctuality & determination in achieving educational excellence. He shared various anecdotes from his own experiences as a student and teacher, where medical ethics and altruism played pivotal roles in attaining desired targets. He also listened to the students’ concerns regarding transport and hostel issues, lecture theatres, BLS workshops and extra-curricular activities and resolved their issues on immediate basis.
The students also expressed their appreciation for the session and thanked the Vice Chancellor and Senior Faculty for their warmth and encouragement.
Prof. Noreen Akmal presented the vote of thanks and emphasized the importance of professionalism and a balanced life in female careers.
She offered a special thank you to the Physiology Department under leadership of Dr Naghmana Lateef for organizing the event.
