Surgery Unit 3 Hosts Academic Meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal

Surgery Unit 3 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital hosted a significant academic meeting today, graced by the presence of Respected Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal. Also in attendance were senior faculty members Professor Dr. Bilquis Shabbir, Professor Dr. Imran Aslam, Professor Dr. Qamar Ashfaq, and Head of Surgery Unit 3, Dr. Shabbir Chohan.
The central agenda of the meeting was a comprehensive review of ongoing postgraduate research projects. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal personally interacted with the trainees, appreciated their academic efforts, and provided insightful feedback aimed at enhancing research quality and relevance. His motivational words inspired students and faculty alike, reinforcing a culture of inquiry and scholarly excellence.
As part of the academic advancements, two new Second Fellowship programs—in Breast Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery—were formally introduced. Professor Gondal lauded this step as a landmark development in surgical subspecialization, positioning Sir Ganga Ram Hospital at the forefront of postgraduate surgical training in Pakistan.
The meeting also included a detailed review of the monthly surgical audit of tumor cases, emphasizing evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and the importance of data in enhancing surgical outcomes and patient safety.
A noteworthy highlight was the acknowledgment of Surgery Unit 3’s emergency duty during the Eid holidays. Demonstrating exceptional commitment, the unit maintained uninterrupted emergency services during this critical period. In a gesture that deeply touched the medical staff, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal personally visited the emergency department on Eid day, recognizing and appreciating the dedication of young doctors on duty.
The session concluded with a heartfelt speech by Dr. Bakhtawar Khan, House Officer in Surgery Unit 3, who eloquently captured the sentiments of the department:
