White Coat Ceremony was held at Fatima Jinnah Medical University Lahore.
Former Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Dr. Shamsa Humayun graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal welcomed the distinguished guest.
On this occasion Principal FJMC Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Registrar FJMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, Deans Prof. Muniza Qayyum, Prof. Zohra Khanum, Prof. Munazza Iqbal, Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Chairperson Department of Surgery Prof. Kamran Khalid, Director Quality Enhancement Cell Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, heads of all departments, faculty, students and a large number of parents attended the occasion.
In the welcome address, Principal FJMC Prof. Noreen Akmal welcomed all the participants. SHe gave a detailed briefing on FJMC. She told the students that they should wear white coat with dignity and pride and serve the patients which is a great honor.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal congratulated the students and parents and welcomed them. He thanked former Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Shamsa Humayun for participating in White Coat Ceremony. He said that the services of Prof. Shamsa Humayun in this institution are creditable. He gave a detailed briefing regarding Fatima Jinnah Medical University. He said that we will try to provide a home-like environment to the students. He said that 100% scholarship will be provided to needy students in our institution. During the flood Relief Activities, the faculty of FJMU along with Alumni served the humanity. The world’s largest Thalassemia Prevention Center is established in this institution and Pakistan’s largest center for Mother and Child with 550 beds, Fatima Jinnah Institute of Mother & Child Health is also established under the umbrella of FJMU, in which four new super specialties has also started. He said that the special guests of today’s event are parents, whose efforts take you to reach this place.
Registrar FJMU congratulated the students and their parents. He said that wearing white coat is a symbol of peace, compassion, care and support and now it is your responsibility to serve the patients wholeheartedly.
Dean Basic Sciences Prof. Munazza Iqbal administered oath to the new first year MBBS class and welcomed them to Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) Prof. Bilquis Shabbir gave a detailed briefing to the participants regarding the QEC department. She emphasised on the vision and mission statement of the university and how important feedback is for quality assurance.
Head of Anatomy Department Prof. Saima Shehbaz congratulated the students and gave a briefing regarding the infrastructure, faculty and working of the Anatomy Department.
Head of Biochemistry Department Dr. Noor Al Ain Waheed congratulated the students and introduced the faculty of Biochemistry Department.
Head of Physiology Department Dr. Nomana Latif welcomed the students and introduced the faculty, and how Physiology Department will involve studentsin curricular and extracurricular.activities.
Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Shamsa Humayun thanked Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal for inviting her as a Special Guest. She said that Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal is the only Vice-Chancellor who is an excelling sports person as well as a PhD scholar. Addressing the students, she said that I am also a graduate of the same institution and the reason for my success in life is Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
Dean Undergraduate Prof. Muniza Qayyum presented the vote of thanks.
At the end of the ceremony, the history book was presented to the student of new 1st year MBBS class who topped the list, Ms. Memoona Razzaq.
On behalf of parents, Mr. Shahzad Mughal thanked the university administration and faculty for excellent arrangements. He expressed that despite his daughter having got admission in other colleges, he preferred FJMU as he had keenly observed diligent efforts of VC-FJMU Prof Khalid Masud Gondal and his team.
