Fatima Jinnah Medical University is celebrating Patient Safety Week as part of World Patient Safety Campaign, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO). Fatima Jinnah Medical University has organized a series of events under the theme “Engaging Patients for Patient Safety.” On Patient Safety Day is held every year on September 17th. This week is being organised by Director Quality Enhancement Cell Prof Bilquis Shabbir under the patronage of Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor of FJMU, who graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Prof Bilquis Shabbir highlighted the theme of Patients Safety Day 2023 “Engaging patients for patient safety”, in recognition of the crucial role patients, families and caregivers play in the safety of health care.
Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, during his address, underscored the significance of timely admission, diagnosis, and treatment as crucial factors in patient safety. He emphasized the importance of patient safety in healthcare. The Guest of Honor, ex VC Prof Shamsa Humayun, congratulated VC and Faculty for such healthy and productive activities for students . She elaborated the recent trial of FJMU in collaboration with WHO on pregnancy outcomes in Covid 19 pandemic.
Patient Safety Day served as a reminder of the healthcare community’s commitment to providing safe and effective care to patients, recognizing that patient safety is a fundamental aspect of healthcare delivery. The event also included an awareness walk to promote patient safety and foster awareness among healthcare professionals and the public.
