Vice Chancellor’s Message

It gives me an absolute honor and great privilege to write this message today to the cream of nation and inspiring professionals of Fatima Jinnah Medical University where I have fond memories of being a regular Vice Chancellor with best team.
Fatima Jinnah Medical College for women was established in 1948, named after the illustrious sister of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The institute was elevated to the status of Fatima Jinnah Medical University on 1st July, 2015.
It attracts the best talent not only from Pakistan but all over the world and countries of SAARC region as well. Among the three affiliated teaching hospitals, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is one of the oldest tertiary care hospital established in 1946.Its faculty consists of eminent professors and distinguished specialists, who are committed to the highest standards of teaching, training, research and service delivery.  The alumni of FJMU are pride of institute serving in the country and abroad. Again the credit goes to this esteemed institution that has given them the best education, professionalism and moral values.

Queens Medical College Holds Its First White Coat CeremonyQueens Medical College, Kasur organized its first-ever White Coat Ceremony with great enthusiasm and dignity. Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University and President College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan, Director General Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority and Founding Principal of Queens Medical College, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor.The ceremony formally commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the National Anthem. In the welcome address, Principal Professor Shireen Khawar warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and presented a comprehensive briefing about the institution. She also informed about the state-of-the-art infrastructure, well-equipped Labs, modern lecture halls, advanced clinical skills labs, and affiliated teaching hospitals with quality patient exposure. The Vice Principal Professor Muniza Qayyum administered the oath to the students and advising them to uphold the oath in their lives with honesty, integrity, and service to ailing humanity.The event was also attended by Chairman Queens Medical College Sheikh Abdul Aziz, CEO Dr. Hammad Ahsan, former MNA Mian Waseem Akhtar Sheikh, MNA Mian Saad Waseem Sheikh, Project Director Sheikh Muhammad Azeem, Project Consultant Colonel Dr. Wajahat Bukhari, Executive Director Sheikh Inam, Director Sheikh Muhammad Zeeshan, senior Prof.s including Prof. Ijaz Hussain, Prof. Maroof Aziz, Prof. Tahir, Prof. Munir Saleemi and other faculty members.Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman, Principal, Vice Principal, distinguished guests and management of Queens Medical College. He said that Queens Medical College is a unique institution due to its beautiful infrastructure, modern facilities, and highly qualified faculty. He emphasized that the core purpose of the White Coat Ceremony is to convey the message of serving ailing humanity, as the medical profession is the only field that benefits both this world and the hereafter. Prof. Gondal further stated that the real congratulations on this occasion go to the parents, whose continuous sacrifices, love, and prayers have enabled their children to reach this milestone. He advised the students to always respect their parents and teachers, as this respect is the true ladder to success. He further remarked that every daughter seated in the hall has the potential to become a Prof. or a Vice Chancellor in the future. He also urged students to judicious use of social media and to always uphold the honor and dignity of Pakistan.Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan said that it was a matter of great pride for him to participate in this prestigious ceremony. He described the white coat as a symbol of responsibility, emphasizing that a doctor’s words can have a profound impact on a patient’s life. He highlighted that women possess unique qualities and face various challenges, but through dedication and competence, they can establish their own identity. He stressed the importance of treating every patient with sincerity and prioritizing ethics and integrity, stating that character is more important than knowledge. He added that these students will one day serve the ailing humanity and bring pride to Pakistan. He concluded by extending his best wishes to the students and the institution.CEO Queens Medical College Dr. Hammad emphasized the importance of women’s education and stated that the vision of Queens Medical College is to produce competent, knowledgeable, and ethically strong doctors. He noted that an educated woman sets the foundation for an educated generation. He added that hospitals affiliated with Queens Medical College are providing quality healthcare services and are actively engaged in serving humanity. Dr. Hammad described the medical profession as a sacred field that brings one closer to Almighty Allah, and reminded the students that Allah Almighty has chosen them and blessed women with extraordinary abilities that should be utilized positively and purposefully.Chairman Queens Medical College Sheikh Abdul Aziz, in his address, paid special tribute to Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, calling him a role model for all. He appreciated the efforts of the female staff responsible for student hostels, acknowledging their vital role in maintaining discipline and ensuring the safety of students. He requested parents to fully cooperate with the institution in the education of their daughters. *Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore*Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore, observed Kashmir Solidarity Day by organizing an Awareness Walk under the kind Patronage of Vice Chancellor, FJMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal to express solidarity with the oppressed Muslims of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The walk aimed to highlight the ongoing human rights violations, brutal violence, and prolonged lockdown in the region.The walk was led by Principal Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed and Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem.
