It gives me an absolute honor and great privilege to write this message today to the cream of nation and inspiring professionals of Fatima Jinnah Medical University where I have fond memories of being a regular Vice Chancellor with best team.
Fatima Jinnah Medical College for women was established in 1948, named after the illustrious sister of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The institute was elevated to the status of Fatima Jinnah Medical University on 1st July, 2015.
It attracts the best talent not only from Pakistan but all over the world and countries of SAARC region as well. Among the three affiliated teaching hospitals, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is one of the oldest tertiary care hospital established in 1946.Its faculty consists of eminent professors and distinguished specialists, who are committed to the highest standards of teaching, training, research and service delivery.  The alumni of FJMU are pride of institute serving in the country and abroad. Again the credit goes to this esteemed institution that has given them the best education, professionalism and moral values.

Establishment of the International Medical Graduates Development & Counseling (IMGDC) Cell within FJMU Medical Education DepartmentFatima Jinnah Medical University proudly announces the establishment of the International Medical Graduates Development & Counseling (IMGDC) Cell within the FJMU Medical Education Department. This initiative, fully endorsed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, is being launched in collaboration with Dr. Raffia Qutab, FJMU alumna, whose advocacy through the initiative “IMGs’ Health Matters” has served as the driving force behind this important development.The mission of the IMGDC Cell was inspired by the tragic loss of Dr. Mariam Shaukat, a young Pakistani International Medical Graduate who became critically ill during her observership in the United States without access to appropriate health insurance support. Her passing moved Dr. Raffia Qutab to pledge that no other young physician should face preventable hardship due to lack of awareness, preparation, or protection while pursuing international training opportunities.This announcement follows the APPNA Liaison Committee Webinar, “Health Matters for IMGs,” held on November 29, 2025, moderated by Dr. Raffia Qutab. The 14th CPC session for the academic year 2025–2026 was meticulously organized under the able leadership of Prof. Bilquis Shabbir—Chairperson of Medicine, Dean of Undergraduates, Director of Medical Education, and Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell—under the visionary guidance of Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor FJMU.The session featured insightful and academically robust case presentations delivered by two distinguished clinical departments of Fatima Jinnah Medical University/Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.---1. Department of Surgery Unit-IILed by: Prof. Dr. Qamar Ashfaq Surgery Unit-II initiated the session with an intriguing case of an axillary mass. The team presented a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s condition, detailing the clinical history, diagnostic workup, differential diagnoses, and even sharing a video recording of the procedure. Their well-structured discussion emphasized the importance of integrating surgical evaluation with radiological and pathological findings to ensure accurate diagnosis and optimal patient care.---2. Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit-IIILed by: Prof. Dr. Amna Zia EusaphGynae Unit-III showcased a compelling case titled “Abdominal Mass—A Clinical Puzzle.” The team highlighted the diagnostic challenges posed by abdominal masses in female patients and underscored the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach involving careful clinical examination, appropriate imaging, and individualized management planning.---Interactive Discussion and Academic HighlightsProf. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor FJMU, reiterated the critical importance of early detection and timely treatment in ensuring effective patient management. 41st Syndicate Meeting Held at Fatima Jinnah Medical University Under the Chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman RafiqueThe 41st Syndicate Meeting of Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) was held today under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, during which key academic, administrative, and policy matters were discussed and approved.At the outset, Vice Chancellor FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, briefed the Syndicate on the recent achievements of the university, highlighting its strong performance in academics, research breakthroughs, and its rising position in international rankings. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government of the Punjab and the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department (SHC&ME) for their unwavering support in advancing medical education.Registrar FJMU Prof. Muhammad Nadeem, Treasurer Mr. Tariq Saeed, and Medical Superintendent Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) Dr. Arif Iftikhar formally presented the respective agenda items before the Syndicate. While addressing, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that we are promoting medical education in the medical institutions of Punjab.
