Vice Chancellor’s Message

It gives me an absolute honor and great privilege to write this message today to the cream of nation and inspiring professionals of Fatima Jinnah Medical University where I have fond memories of being a regular Vice Chancellor with best team.
Fatima Jinnah Medical College for women was established in 1948, named after the illustrious sister of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The institute was elevated to the status of Fatima Jinnah Medical University on 1st July, 2015.
It attracts the best talent not only from Pakistan but all over the world and countries of SAARC region as well. Among the three affiliated teaching hospitals, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is one of the oldest tertiary care hospital established in 1946.Its faculty consists of eminent professors and distinguished specialists, who are committed to the highest standards of teaching, training, research and service delivery.  The alumni of FJMU are pride of institute serving in the country and abroad. Again the credit goes to this esteemed institution that has given them the best education, professionalism and moral values.

*FJMU Holds 50th Finance & Planning Committee Meeting*Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore, convened its 50th meeting of the Finance & Planning Committee (F&PC) under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Presidential Pride of Performance).The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed (Principal, FJMC), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem (Registrar, FJMU), Prof. Aisha Malik (Dean, Surgery & Allied), Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir (Chairperson, Department of Medicine/ Director QEC & DME/ Dean Undergraduates), Prof. Dr. Aliya Zahid (Dean, Basic Sciences), Mr. Tariq Saeed (Treasurer, FJMU), Dr. Arif Iftikhar (Medical Superintendent, SGRH), and Mr. Muhammad Nabeel (Controller of Examinations, FJMU).The distinguished external members included Mr. Ale-Imran Siddiqi (Member, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan & ICMAP), Ms. Uzma Hafeez (Chief Health, P&D Department, Government of the Punjab), Mr. Hammad Ur Rab (Director Budget & Accounts (FMC), SHC&ME Department), and Mr. Ghulam Nabi (Regional Director, HEC, Lahore), representing the Higher Education Commission.During the session, the Secretary F&PC, Mr. Tariq Saeed (Treasurer, FJMU), along with Dr. Arif Iftikhar (MS, SGRH), presented key agenda items including the Annual Comprehensive Repair and Maintenance of various Biomedical Equipment and Approval of framework contracts for essential procurements, ensuring improved operational efficiency and enhanced institutional performance.After detailed deliberations, the Finance and Planning Committee unanimously recommended the agenda items to the Syndicate of FJMU for final approval.The members highly appreciated the visionary leadership and relentless efforts of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, in steering the university towards excellence. *PREPARATORY COURSE WORKSHOP ON NEURORADIOLOGY AND NEUROELECTROPHYSIOLOGY AT FJMU*The Department of Neurology, FJMU/ SGRH organized a highly enriching "Preparatory Course Workshop on Neuroradiology and Neuroelectrophysiology", bringing together trainees, clinicians, and faculty members for a day of focused academic learning and professional development.The Vice Chancellor FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed, Principal FJMC, and Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Dean Undergraduates / Chairperson Department of Medicine / Director ORIC & QEC, attended as Guests of Honor.While addressing the audience, Vice Chancellor FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, appreciated the Department of Neurology for the excellent organization of the workshop and emphasized the vital role of neuroradiology and neuroelectrophysiology in neurology education and training. *COMMENCEMENT OF THE FIFTH CLINICOPATHOLOGICAL CONFERENCE (CPC) SESSION FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2026–27 AT FJMU*The Fifth Clinicopathological Conference (CPC) Session for the academic year 2026–27 commenced at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore. The primary objective of this session is to enhance the clinical competencies of FJMU’s undergraduate and postgraduate students, thereby fostering excellence in healthcare education, practice, and research.The event was meticulously planned and coordinated by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir—Chairperson Department of Medicine, Dean Undergraduates, Director of Medical Education, and Director Quality Enhancement Cell—under the Visionary Leadership of Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor, FJMU.The conference featured insightful presentations from two esteemed clinical departments of Fatima Jinnah Medical University/Sir Ganga Ram Hospital:* Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit-II, led by Prof. Dr. Shamila Ijaz Munir* Department of Neurology, led by Prof. Dr. Ahsan NaumanThe first case was presented by Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit-II, led by Prof. Shamila Ijaz Munir, Head of Department of Urogynaecology and Gynaecology/Obstetric Unit II. Her unwavering commitment to academic excellence, clinical mentorship, and compassionate patient care continues to serve as a beacon of guidance and inspiration for students and trainees.The case of “Youssef Syndrome” was presented in an engaging and multidisciplinary format. The initial segment, comprising detailed history and clinical examination findings, was presented by Dr. Maida Yaseen, Final Year MBBS student. The subsequent discussion on diagnostic approach, management plan, and topic overview was presented by Dr. Roha Fatima, PGR-4, Gynae Unit II.A strong multidisciplinary team (MDT) contributed to the discussion, highlighting the importance of integrated care. From Radiology, Dr. Noor-ul-Ain, PGR-4, provided valuable imaging insights, while from Urology, Dr. Musaddiq Suleman, PGR-4, contributed to the urological evaluation and management perspective.Then Prof Shamila Ijaz Munir conducted an interactive question-and-answer session with the participants, encouraging critical appraisal of the case and reinforcing key clinical decision-making points. In her concluding remarks, she highlighted the importance of patient counselling regarding family planning and limiting family size, and stressed the need for meticulous surgical technique during caesarean sections to minimize preventable complications.The Department of Neurology presented the second case, “A 40 year old male presented with Headache.” House Officer Dr. Faria presented a detailed overview of the patient’s history, physical examination, and diagnosis. Postgraduate Residents Dr. Hassan Farooq and Dr. Asma Sikandar further elaborated on the clinical management, treatment options, and possible complications, offering valuable insights into this complex condition.The discussion was further enriched by Professor Dr. Ahsan Noman, who conducted an engaging question-and-answer session. His expert opinions provided further clarity and depth to the understanding of the case.The in-depth discussions not only emphasized evidence-based clinical approaches but also highlighted the integral role of spirituality in medical practice. The conference received high appreciation from both faculty members and students for its comprehensive and reflective approach to clinical education.The Audience extended their sincere appreciation to Prof. Bilquis Shabbir for organizing this impactful academic session.
