Quality Enhancement Cell conducted a workshop on “Using Artificial Intelligence in Research” on 05-01-2024 at DME Conference Hall. The purpose of the workshop was to enlighten participants about leveraging AI tools to enhance and elevate research, with a specific focus on medical sciences. Faculty and staff members from various teaching and administrative departments attended the workshop. Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Director QEC was the organizer of the event. The esteemed Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor FJMU, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Prof. Mahmood Ayaz, Vice Chancellor KEMU, honored the event as the Guest of Honor.
Dr. Noor-I-Kiran Haris, Head of Medical Education, ABWA Medical College, was the facilitator for the workshop. She enlightened participants about the significance of artificial intelligence in research and provided a detailed briefing on the application of the latest AI tools in research work. The session was not just informative; participants actively engaged in hands-on training, gaining practical experience in utilizing these advanced tools for their research work. It was a hybrid session with about 50 participants.
At the conclusion of the session, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir extended gratitude to the participants and esteemed guests, acknowledging their valuable presence. Prof. Bilquis Shabbir also provided a brief recap of the workshop’s theme, summarizing the key takeaways. Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal shared insightful perspectives on the history of artificial intelligence in Pakistan, with a specific focus on its transformative impact on surgery and medical sciences. Prof. Mahmood Ayaz underscored the vital role of AI in medical research. He commended the visionary efforts of Vice Chancellor FJMU for introducing innovative workshops, such as this one, as part of the post-conference events during the FJMU annual symposium 2023. Prof. Mahmood Ayaz emphasized the imperative need for collaboration among medical universities in propelling forward AI endeavors collectively.
