Introduction

Govt. Teaching Hospital Shahdara was established in March 2013 by the Government of the Punjab. The main purpose of constructing this hospital was to provide the best healthcare facilities to the population of Shahdara and other towns in the vicinity. It was declared a Teaching Hospital in July 2015 and was attached to Fatima Jinnah Medical University.

Postgraduate Training

In 2017, it was approved for FCPS training in Surgery, Gynaecology, Medicine, Nephrology, Paediatric Medicine, Anaesthesia and Urology. Since January 2018, postgraduate residents have been inducted in GTHS through CIP in both the FCPS and MD/MS programmes. Recently, MS residents have also been inducted in the Orthopaedics Department. A total of 55 residents are getting their training in the above-mentioned disciplines.

The faculty includes Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and Consultants working in various departments of GTHS and providing teaching and training to the postgraduate residents.

Wards & Capacity

Total sanctioned beds in GTHS are 300, of which 203 beds are currently functional.
