What is RTI?
RTI stands for Right to Information, a fundamental right of the citizens of Pakistan acknowledged under Article 19-A of the Constitution. The Punjab Transparency & Right to Information Act 2013 provides a detailed procedure for citizens to file an RTI application to Public Information Officers, and to assail the orders of PIOs before the Punjab Information Commission. A citizen exercising the Right to Information can access information in all matters of public importance, subject to regulation and reasonable restrictions imposed by law.

The University’s Position on RTI
Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore considers RTI an enabling law which helps citizens avail themselves of public services in a better manner. The University also regards RTI as a tool of accountability by citizens, which ultimately leads to an informed society, and believes that maximum disclosure and transparency make its offices and public services credible in the public eye.
