The Neurology department at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was established in 2013. Dr. Muhammad Moen Ahmed was the first Head. Initially the department worked in collaboration with Medical Unit 1. In 2015, the department started its own, fully functional, 20 bedded ward facility. Neurology department got accredited by CPSP for Fellowship training in Neurology in 2016 and commenced MDNeurology training in 2017. The department is progressing under its current Head, Dr. Faheem Saeed who is leading a team of eight MD Neurology and six FCPS Neurology residents. The infrastructure includes separate male and female wards, a procedure room, Electrophysiological testing room, doctor’s office, nursing room, class room, conference room and a fully functional library with e-library facilities. The department offers Electrophysiological testing and also provides the facility for Plasmapheresis. OPD service are offered twice a week and a specialized Epilepsy outdoor clinic provides services once a week. In addition, the department also caters OPD services once a week in Govt. Teaching Hospital, Shahdara. On call service provision to Emergency and other departments is a regular feature of routine operations, reflecting on the collaborative spirit at the heart of department’s functioning philosophy. The department also conducts lectures for undergraduates ,as well as takes part in their clinical rotations.
