*FJMU ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC* *PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP ON UPDATES IN GYNAECOLOGICAL ONCOLOGY*

A pre-scientific conference workshop on “Updates in Gynaecological Oncology” was conducted by the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics Unit 4 and the Department of Oncology SGRH/FJMU under the dynamic supervision of Prof. Dr. Amna Zia Eusaph, HOD,Gynae Unit 4, and Associate Professor Dr. Saif ur Rehman, HOD Oncology, SGRH.
The objective of the workshop was to highlight the importance of screening for Gynaecological malignancies. Prof. Dr. Amna Zia Eusaph, highlighted the importance of early detection of pre-malignant gynaecological lesions so that they do not progress to cancer. An important lecture on the management of ovarian tumors was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Saif ur Rehman, HOD Oncology Department, SGRH. The role of the transvaginal scan in the detection of gynaecological pathologies was discussed by Dr.Arooj under the kind supervision of Prof. Mahjabeen Masood, HOD Radiology, SGRH. An informative presentation along with hands-on training on the difference between conventional cervical screening and liquid-based cytology was presented by Dr. Aima, a consultant histopathologist at Chughtai Laboratories. A comprehensive talk about cytogenetics was given by Dr. Anood Sohail from Chughtai Laboratories.
The esteemed Vice Chancellor,FJMU,Prof. DR Khalid Masud Gondal (Tamgha e Imtiaz & Presidential Pride of Performance), graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He gave his valuable advice to the doctors about the importance of this workshop. He appreciated the efforts of Gynae 4 and Oncology departments in arranging hands-on workshop for better training of students and doctors. Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Principal FJMC, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kamran Khalid Khwaja, Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson, Department of Medicine, Dr. Sohail Arshad, Medical Superintendent SGRH also attended the workshop.
A total of 71 participants from the Gynaecology, Oncology, and Radiology Departments, students, and nursing staff attended the workshop. There were four hands-on training stations.1. Pap Smear 2. Pipelle Sampling 3. Liquid-Based Cytology and Microscopic View of Slides. 4. Transvaginal Scan.
All stations were facilitated by experts in the concerned fields.A pre and post-test regarding the workshop were conducted.At the end of the workshop, Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal distributed shields among the organisers and facilitators of the workshop.
