The Workshop on “MATERNAL RESUSCITATION FOR BETTER PATIENT CARE “was conducted in department of Medical Education
as a joint venture of Department of Anesthesia and Department of
Gynae & Obstetrics UNIT 3 under the patronship of
VC.FJMU Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal (Tamghae Imtiaz, Presidential Pride of Performance) & organization of
Professor Dr Noreen Akmal, Professor Dr Muzamil
Hussain and Professor Dr Liaqat Ali.
24 participants actively participated in this hands on workshop.
Online reading material was provided to all the participants 5 days before workshop.
An online pre test
was taken before workshop to assess the baseline knowledge of the participants.
It started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by half an hour scenario based interactive discussion by
Professor Dr Liaqat Ali.
The facilitation was done by Assistant professor Dr
Sheikh Ziarat Ali and Senior registrars , Dr Waqas, Dr. Bushra, Dr Raheela,Dr Khoula Yousaf, Dr Zeenat, Dr Humna
Mian, and Dr Sadia.
This workshop was keenly attended by the post graduate Trainees from the anaesthesia department and all the 4 units of Gynae.
There were four stations with clinical scenario discussion on maternal resuscitation in case of pre eclampsia, eclampsia, obstetrical
haemorrhage and cardiac arrest.
All the candidates had hands on practice and discussion on each station with two facilitators according to the Nice and RCOG guide lines and guidelines of RCOA, American society of anesthesia and American heart association.
The workshop was graced by the presence of Dean Basic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Munaza Iqbal, Dean of surgery, Prof. Dr. kamran khalid khawaja, Dean of neuroscience, Prof Dr. Abdul Hameed and Registrar FJMU Prof.Dr. Nadeem Kasuri.
They were welcomed by
unit heads . VC FJMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal,
appreciated the Head of department, Principal FJMC
Prof Dr Noreen Akmal and Head of Anesthesia Prof Dr
Muzamil Hussain and Prof Dr Liaqat Ali and their team for carrying this collaborative teaching and learning activity.
He appreciated the candidates for their interest and praised efforts of Anesthesia and Gynae in collaborative management of a great hands on workshop.
At the end a post workshop test was held to assess the knowledge gained from the workshop.
An online feedback was also taken from the participants and the facilitators in order to better the shortcomings.
Candidates were awarded
with certificates of participation at the end of the workshop.
