The Annual International Conference on Medical, Educational and research in Fatima Jinnah Medical University was presided over by Dr. Fizza Rafiq. President of Alumni. Workshops on various topics were held today in the International Symposium organized by Fatima Jinnah Medical University and Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America. The workshops were preceded by a grand function which was attended by all the guests from the Alumni Associations. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Shamsa Humayun welcomed all the guests. Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Shamsa Humayun, Dean Undergraduates Prof. Muniza Qayyum, Chairperson Department of Medicine Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem, Deans Prof. Munazza Iqbal, Prof. Muneeza Qayyum and Prof. Abdul Hameed were present in the Conference. A large number of faculty members including Dean Nursing Prof. Zohra Khanum and Principal Prof. Noreen Akmal were also present.
Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof.Khalid Masood Gondal thanked all the guests from the core of his heart. On this occasion, he said that the services of Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America in the rehabilitation of the victims in the flood-affected areas are unparalleled. He further informed that more than 80 houses, a Community Center and a Dispensary have been constructed in Fatima Jinnah Kishani Village so far with the support of Fatima Jinnah Medical University and Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America. He also thanked Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah, founder of Custom Healthcare Society, for his rehabilitation work in flood affected areas. He further informed that a record 43 Pre-Conference Workshops were organized in Fatima Jinnah Medical University this year, highlighting the latest aspects of medicine, education and research. He said that this International Conference has been made successful in Colloboration with Fatima Jinnah Medical University and Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America. In the coming days, experts from America and Canada will share the participants about their educational services, experiences and research, which will prove to be very beneficial for teachers as well as students. On this occasion, President Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America, Dr. Fizza Rafiq, said that Fatima Jinnah Medical University is on the path of progress in educational, research and medical fields with great speed, for which we are extremely happy and proud. She further said that she got the opportunity to visit Kashani Village along with the Faculty of the University which was very enjoyable. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Khan, member of King Edward Medical College Alumni Association and Dr. Talha, member of Association of Pakistani Doctors of North America, also participated in this International Conference and were greatly impressed by the ongoing activities.They Congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal for organizing this successful Conference.
Experts from America and Canada including, Dr. Shazia Riaz, Dr. Samra Mansoor, Dr. Khalid Kamal, Dr. Nighat Mehdi, Dr. Samra Rathore, Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Prof. Imtiaz Ahmed Dogar, Dr. Maqsood Ahmed, Dr. Tabasum Saeed and Dr. Farah Mohiuddin Farooq informed the participants of the Training Workshop about their experiences. On this occasion, the Alumni of Fatima Jinnah Medical University visited the Department of Ophthalmology of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital along with the Faculty of the University and were very impressed with the facility of Corneal Transplant. Along with this, they also visited the State of the Art Fatima Jinnah Institute of Mother and Child Health and were very impressed by the latest facilities available in it and termed it as a world-class Institute. Finally, the delegation visited the Thalassemia Institute where Dr. Hussain Jafari informed about the world’s best preventive program for the treatment of hereditary blood diseases. The medical experts from America and Canada congratulated the Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Yasmin Rashid and the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal for the ongoing development projects in their Alma Mater.
