It gives me an absolute honor and great privilege to write this message today to the cream of nation and inspiring professionals of Fatima Jinnah Medical University where I have fond memories of being a regular Vice Chancellor with best team.
Fatima Jinnah Medical College for women was established in 1948, named after the illustrious sister of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The institute was elevated to the status of Fatima Jinnah Medical University on 1st July, 2015.
It attracts the best talent not only from Pakistan but all over the world and countries of SAARC region as well. Among the three affiliated teaching hospitals, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is one of the oldest tertiary care hospital established in 1946.Its faculty consists of eminent professors and distinguished specialists, who are committed to the highest standards of teaching, training, research and service delivery.  The alumni of FJMU are pride of institute serving in the country and abroad. Again the credit goes to this esteemed institution that has given them the best education, professionalism and moral values.

HIGHLIGHTS

CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION (CHPE) COURSE AT FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, (FJMU) LAHORE.Fatima Jinnah Medical University successfully conducted first contact session of 12th batch of Certificate course in Health Professions Education (CHPE) from 3rd to 6th November, 2025. This course engaged the participants from various specialties in an enriching learning experience designed to enhance teaching and mentoring skills in medical education.DAY 1:�The program commenced with an insightful and highly interactive session by Prof. Brig. Mowaddat Rana, who discussed learning theories, principles of adult learning, metacognition, and attribution theory. The participants engaged in reflective practices and educational activities that encouraged critical thinking and self-evaluation — setting a dynamic tone for the course.DAY 2:�The second day featured a beautiful and inspiring session by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir on the art of mentoring. Through real-life examples, she emphasized the importance of empathy, guidance, and professional growth in medical mentorship. This was followed by an excellent presentation by Dr. Saira Munawwar on Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction, which she explained with clarity and practical application.DAY 3:�The day began with microteaching sessions, where participants delivered five-minute presentations on topics of their choice. This formative exercise allowed for detailed feedback and reflective discussions led by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir. Later, Prof. Saqib Musharraf conducted a practical workshop on designing effective PowerPoint presentations, which was greatly appreciated by participants for its hands-on approach.�The day was further graced by a special guest appearance by Prof. Ayesha Siddiqa and Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor FJMU. Prof. Ayesha delivered an inspirational talk, motivating the participants to pursue excellence in medical education.DAY 4:�The final day began with an excellent presentation by Dr. Nazia Tufail on learning strategies, including large group and small group teaching methods. Participants were actively involved through various tasks. This was followed by an engaging recap session led by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, reinforcing concepts of learning theories and metacognition through interactive activities and presentations.�Towards the end, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor FJMU, addressed the participants on leadership in academia, highlighting key attributes and types of leadership through practical examples. Pre-Conference Neo- Natal Resuscitation Course – FJMU Annual Scientific Conference 2025 The Department of Paediatric Medicine, Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore, organised a Pre-Conference Workshop on “Pakistan Neonatal Resuscitation Course (PNRC)” on 6th November 2025 at the Department of Medical Education, FJMU. The event was held under the patronage of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Presidential Pride of Performance).The workshop was graced by the presence of Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor, FJMU, and Prof. Abdul Hameed, Principal, Fatima Jinnah Medical College, as Chief Guests.The event was meticulously organised by Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana and Prof. Dr. Fozia Ishaq. The facilitation team included Dr. Kaleem Malhi (General Secretary, Pakistan Paediatric Association), Dr. Sikandar Hayyat (Associate Professor of Neonatology, Services Institute of Medical Sciences), Dr. Muhammad Asif Siddiqui (Assistant Professor of Neonatology, FJMU), Dr. Ammar Haider (Senior Registrar, Neonatology, University of Child Health Sciences), and Dr. Sadia Yasmeen (Senior Registrar, Neonatology, FJMU).Participants engaged in hands-on, simulation-based training, mastering essential life-saving skills in neonatal resuscitation. Doctors and nurses from the Departments of Gynaecology and Paediatrics collaborated in this interactive session, fostering teamwork and improving the coordinated response during the critical first moments of a newborn’s life. Pre-Conference Workshop on “Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR)” Fatima Jinnah Medical University, LahoreUnder the Patronage of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Presidential Pride of Performance), a Pre-Conference Workshop on "Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR)” was organized by Prof. Dr. Farzana Latif and Gynaecology Unit IV on 4th November 2025 at Classroom, 6th Floor, Fatima Jinnah Institute of Mother and Child Health.The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed (Principal, FJMC), Dr. Arif Iftikhar (Medical Superintendent, SGRH), and Prof. Dr. Qamar, along with faculty members and postgraduate trainees from all Gynaecology departments.The proceedings commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran.The Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal highlighted the importance of Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response and said the one who saved the life of a mother or a child, saved whole humanity.
